Health Check (Health Form)
All international students must submit their official Health From (official health check test results) from their home countries to KAIST in
order to apply for residency in the dormitory for their first semester. The health check-up must include vaccination records (MMR,
especially for Measles, you must complete all 2 doses prior to coming to KAIST) and TB test results (x-ray etc.).
Insurance for International Exchange Students
Every exchange student holding a D-2 visa (including D-2-6) is subject to mandatory subscription to National Health Insurance (NHI). However,
the NHI coverage begins only from the date of receiving your Residence Number meaning you will not be covered for a few months after your
arrival. Therefore, We highly recommend that you apply for traveler’s insurance beforehand to ensure medical coverage during the period
when you are not yet covered by the NHI.
Insurance for International Degree-Seeking Students
National Health Insurance (NHI)
Every international student holding a D-2 visa is subject to mandatory subscription to the National Health Insurance (NHI).
Thus, students will be automatically subscribed to NHI, for which there is a monthly health insurance premium.
However, please note that coverage begins after you receive your Residence Number which means you will not be covered for a few months after your arrival.
Therefore, we highly recommend that you apply for a traveler's insurance beforehand to ensure medical coverage during the period when you are not yet covered by NHI.

For undergraduate KAIST scholarship beneficiaries, the National Health Insurance premium will be refunded to you by KAIST.
You will need to apply for the reimbursement through this website: scholarprod.kaist.ac.kr
When you change your visa status, make sure to contact NHI and report the changes in your visa status.
Also, if you plan to leave Korea for a long time or permanently, make sure to inform NHI of your departure date.

Undergraduate Students:
For undergraduate KAIST scholarship beneficiaries, the National Health Insurance amount will be refunded by KAIST. Please visit the scholarprod.kaist.ac.kr to apply for the reimbursement form and please note that the receipt of payment is mandatory.
Student Health Insurance Association (SHIA)
All regular degree-seeking KAIST students (as well as dual-degree students) are strongly recommended to apply for the KAIST Student
Health Insurance Association (SHIA). The registration period for the Spring semester is usually from the last week of February ~ first
week of March. In the Fall semester, the registration period is from the last week of August ~ first week of September. Please note that
the registration period is subject to change so please check your KAIST email regularly.

Fees: 45,000 won/semester (there is a one-time registration fee)
