Program & Eligibility
Study Program
Your choice of institution will be guided by your study needs. Some institutional agreements are limited to students from a particular
faculty or department.
See the individual university profiles from our partner institutions to find out if your planned course is suitable. Consult your KAIST course
outline to determine what courses you need to complete while overseas and take electives during student exchange program, when
possible.
To determine if courses are suitable at your host institution, consult the websites of our partner institutions.
Approximate credit point translations are:
- 3 credits = 3 or 4 credits in the US system
- 3 credits = 5 ECTS in the European system
The head of your department ultimately decides how many credits you will receive for each subject you took overseas based on his/her review of the course content and assessment.
Eligibility
As a KAIST student you can study for one or two semesters at an overseas university and earn credit towards your degree through the KAIST Student Exchange Program.
Eligibility Requirements :
- Current enrolment in a coursework program at KAIST
- Undergraduate students must have completed at least two semesters before applying and graduate students must have completed one semester by the time of their departure
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in your current KAIST courses
- At least one semester left to complete upon returning to KAIST
- Ability to be self-sufficient financially for the exchange period
Tuition fees at the host institution are waived, but students are required to pay travel and living expenses.
The ideal time to go on exchange is during your second semester of your second year, or first semester of your third year (undergraduate),
or second semester (graduate).
Many of KAIST's exchange agreements are established for undergraduate student exchange only.
However, some faculties have entered into exchange agreements that include or focus specifically on graduate coursework exchanges.
