Center for Overseas Development
KAIST Center for Overseas Development has been established in October, 2015, to meet the growing demand for cooperation for overseas development from home and abroad. The center oversees systematic coordination of consultation, business operation and planning for various collaborative projects for countries in need of Official Development Assistance (ODA).
Mission
To serve the international community through offering KAIST’s educational system and research results for benchmarking by the countries in need of better education and research institutes by participating and/or undertaking various ODA projects, allowing more involvement of KAIST scholars and researchers.
Roles
- Consultation for development of underdeveloped countries
- Planning and operation of overseas development projects
- Obtaining and undertaking various ODA projects by national and international agencies
- Coordinating systematic cooperation by the various academic/research units within KAIST
- Building up and systemizing 'KAIST model’: Offering a model of education and research curriculum and system employed by KAIST and operating relevant training programs
- Overall management of KAIST overseas development efforts
Current Projects
- Dominican republic's science and technology profession fostering program, under ODA agreement in cooperation with KOICA
- Cooperating with the Ethiopian science and technology institutions
- Consultation for the establishment of the IT and Engineering School of Azerbaijan at ADA University
- Faculty training - TUIT (Tashkent university of information technologies) of Uzbekistan
- EWB-KAIST (Engineers Without Borders-KAIST)
